How this site checks its claims

A short set of rules I hold the site to, so you can tell what is sourced, what is my opinion, and what has been fixed.

Rules

Sources

Facts about a product come from that vendor's own public pages, and each one links to the page. I do not use anything that is not public, and nothing from my employer.

Dates

Every figure carries the date I checked it. Prices and features change, so a date is part of the claim.

Quotes and numbers

Quoted phrases are the vendor's own words and are kept short. A vendor's claim is reported as a claim. I say so when a number is a marketing figure and not a measured result.

Opinion

My views are labelled as mine and kept apart from the facts they respond to.

Gaps

If I could not check something, it is left out and listed as not checked. I do not fill the gap with a guess.

AI use

This site's code and the first version of the competitor tracker were produced with Claude, an AI model from Anthropic, working under my direction. The vendor pages were read with AI-assisted tools and the figures are linked to their sources so they can be checked by anyone.

Each note says how AI was used in it, including when the answer is none.

Corrections

No corrections so far. When something is fixed, it is recorded here with the date and what changed.
